DRAFTING 1ST PERIOD

Drafting 1 is a one year course in Mechanical drawing open to High school student in grades nine through twelve.  Basic skills are learned using manual drafting equipment.  Students can continue for a second year in Computer Aided Drafting. We are currently using Auto Cad 2004. This years group includes five students in Drafting 1 and three students in computer aided drafting.

HIGH SCHOOL WOODWORKING 2ND PERIOD

This section of High School woodworking is a small class with mostly advanced students. Projects are quite advanced, including such items as a large tool chest, mission style curio cabinet, dining room table, and T.V. cabinet with storage.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SHOP 3RD PERIOD
Middle school shop is set up on trymesters with eighth graders first, seventh graders second, and sixth graders last. Projects are beginner level, requiring the use of hand tools along with basic machines, like scroll saw, band saw, and drillpress.
HIGH SCHOOL WOODWORKING 4TH PERIOD

This section of woodworking is composed of a mix of beginners through advanced students. Projects run the spectrum from jewelery boxes to computer desks.

HIGH SCHOOL WOODWORKING 6TH PERIOD

This years class is a mix of skill levels with the sophmore class making up the majority. Projects include blanket chests, coffee tables, T.V. cabinets etc.

METALS 7TH PERIOD

This is a metalworking class open to students grades ten through twelve. Freshmen may take this class with instructors permission only. Areas of instruction include Machine tool operation, Sheet metal fabrication, wrought iron projects, Arc, Mig, tig, and oxyacetylene welding. This years class includes both beginning and advanced students.

SKILLS U.S.A

The Industrial Arts Department at Deer Trail High School has recently become vocationally accredited by the state of Colorado. Part of this process requires the addition of a related student organization. Skills U.S.A. is a national organization designed to unite students enrolled in programs with vocational, trade, industrial, or technical occupation abjectives.  The goal is to develope leadership abilities through participation in educational, occupational, civic, recreational, and social activities.
